Description

As the first super-fat asymmetric ride, the Rapid Transit rips through crud like an express train with a schedule to keep. The unique asymmetrical sidecut gives the outside edges a tighter radius than the inside edges '± adding edge control to the uphill ski for better maneuverability on hardpack and smoother transitions in the softer stuff. With a broad platform underfoot and a healthy 128 / 91 / 116 shape, the Rapid Transit delivers the stability and flotation skiers expect from a big mountain, big snow, freeride ski. After spending a whole season on these skis I am amazed that more people have not gone this way. Truly amazing ride and so versatile for almost every condition.

The Story of G3

In 1995 G3's founder, Oliver Steffen, developed his first product. He followed one fundamental rule: G3 gear must be true "guide gear". That product was an innovative, and dependable avalanche probe that set a new standard for function and reliability in the backcountry ski market.

Since then, G3's team has steadily raised the bar for backcountry gear, with innovations including the TARGA telemark binding, High Performance Climbing Skins, AviTECH shovel, and Bonesaw. Each of these products has been developed and tested for guides and avalanche professionals; essentials in the professional's kit that must be strong, light, reliable, and functional.

Our newest product innovation is one inspired by many years of combining skiing experience and product design. After two full years of intensive market research, development, and testing, G3 Skis are now available. A superior choice for both AT and telemark set-ups, G3 skis were launched in 2004 with design support from backcountry guru Paul Parker '± a 22-year veteran of ski and boot design. The diverse G3 ski collection features seven distinct skis built with all-wood cores for long-lasting, snappy performance.

In all G3 skis, semi-cap construction delivers round flex underfoot and torsional rigidity throughout the ski, while tough top sheets and well-proven bases stay fast in a wide variety of temperatures and conditions. Ensuring durability and performance, substantial binding reinforcement on G3 skis supports both telemark and alpine touring (AT) bindings. Asymmetry: Defined The Ticket, The Rapid Transit and the new Luscious have a unique asymmetric sidecut. The skis' two outside edges - those under your little toes - are designed with a tighter turn radius than the inside edges. These little-toe edges are on the inside of each of your turns, parallel or telemark. Think of them like the inside of wheels of a car that's making a turn: the inside wheels follow a tighter line than the outside wheels. In the case of G3 skis, these tighter radiused edges are more active in each turn, resulting in more inside ski control, precise transitions, and crisp, snappy arcs.
