Berg's Info

Praised by the magazine as the most versatile wider skis available, the Recon excels all over the mountain. Engineering details include Titan technology construction, mod monic technology, 16.0 sidecut, 78mm waist width, spruce core, and it comes with the Marker Piston IBX 12.0 binding. That's great and all, but the truth is, the Recon just flat out rips. Whether it's on the groomers or off, the Recon craves speed, and rewards those who feed it in heaping portions

Description

The K2 Apache Recon Alpine Ski with Marker M112 Binding is a high-performance mid fat with a mission—explore every foot of every mountain around the globe. The Apache Recon Alpine Skis can handle anything Mother Nature's throws its way. It's eager to investigate off-piste terrain, from open bowls to tight trees to steep chutes. Twin metal laminate construction lends stability and precision edge control. The Recon Alpine Ski's 78mm waist provides a solid platform for powerful turns through any condition it may encounter. Mostly, the Recon seeks to increase its number of pow days this season.

  • Marker Piston M1 12.0: The K2/Marker M1 Ski-Binding System sets the standards for performance and integrated industrial design. Central to the design are the M1 titanium hubs that are imbedded into the core of the ski and enveloped in light weight composite housing. These fixed hubs allow for more balanced and centered points underfoot. By using fewer moving parts than conventional bindings, the M1 System allows for quicker, more efficient power transfer to your edges. Additionally, the design of the M1 toe and heel spacers are up to 30% wider than other rail systems thus extending binding contact points closer to the edge of the ski. This aspect increases leverage and power transfer. A fixed heel and floating toe drives power down and forward while still allowing the ski to flex freely, in a more consistent round arc maximizing performance. State of the art engineering and a sleek integrated design makes the K2 M1 a lighter, more powerful high performance system. Featured exclusively on the Apache and T:Nine Series.
  • Titan Metal Laminate Construction: Titan Metal Laminate is a visible extension of the standard metal laminate. As skis get wider, especially in the shovel, a metal laminate can begin to feel overwhelming. Titan Technology achieves overall swing weight reduction by removing material from the toplayer of titinal in the tip and tail. REduced swing weight offers a skier more control, with less fatigue.
  • MOD Monic: Fully integrated within the MOD structure, MOD Monic is an extension of MOD Technology, focusing the benefits of mass dampening into a concentrated area. The entire surface of a ski benefits from the MOD structure, bit some areas need more than others. Independent studies at Boeing Laboratories determined precisely where to place the Monic by finding the area of the ski that would benefit the most from additional mass. By targeting a specific area, we aren't needlessly adding weight. Monic allows for the majority of the MOD structure to be lightened, and have extra mass focused precisely where it increases performance.
  • MOD Technology: Praised by magazine tests and validated by skiers around the world, MOD Technology has proven to be the ultimate in ski deign today. MOD combines an elastomeric secondary core that works as a high-performance suspension system and mass damper to provide the highest degree of ease, power, forgiveness and performance available in skis today. The amount, application and distribution of mass are keys to the success of MOD Technology. At K2, unlike any other manufacturer, our application of mass via the MOD structure doe not affect flex, allowing the ski to perform freely while MOD absorbs unwanted vibrations independently.
