Special Olympics

Special Olympics Winter State Games

Mt Bachelor (West Village)
February 25th & 26th


Mt Bachelor hosts the 2017 Special Olympics Oregon Winter State Games. Winter Games Snow Sports are held annually at Mt. Bachelor where participants from the entire state compete in one of four sports – alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. All participants have trained in their hometowns and local mountains prior to these competitions. Head on up and join in the fun.

If you're interest in volunteering to assist during the Special Olympics State Games, or during regular season snow training, please contact Berg's for additional information.

Cascade Crest Nordic Ski Marathon & Relay

Mt Bachelor Nordic Center

Enjoy the high Cascades and test your limits at the 2017 Cascade Crest Nordic Ski Marathon. This year’s event offers a little something for everyone; a 50km Skate race, a 25km Skate race, a 10km Skate or Classic race for beginning racers, and a 4 x 12.5km Skate Relay. The 2017 course will utilize the US Forest Service lands in the shadow of Broken Top Mountain on and around Dutchman Flat and Todd Lake before reentering the Mt Bachelor Nordic Center Trail Network at Rich’s Range. The course is 12.5km in distance (10km cut off for beginners) and will be skied 4 times for the 50km and twice for the 25km.

Not racing? Please consider contributing as a Cascade Crest event volunteer. A wide range of volunteer opportunities are available. Please contact Sue Foster at sfoster@mtbachelor.com for additional information. All volunteers receive a race goody packet and lunch at the finish line.

The Mt Ashland Dummy Downhill

Dummy 1 Come one, come all to the 2017 Dummy Downhill at Mt. Ashland,
presented by Valley Immediate Care!

After a brief hiatus this beloved event is back! Mark your calendars, sketch out your plans and get to building. This years competition is sure to be legendary.

Contest Rules:
1) The Dummy cannot weigh more than 125 lbs.
2) The Dummy must be mounted on one snowboard or two skis
3) The Dummy can not have any glass or sharp metal objects
4) No explosives or fire involved in the dummy’s design or function
5) The Dummy must be submitted at Mt. Ashland by 10:00am on March 19, 2017
Dummy 2
Judging:
1) A panel of judges will score Dummies on originality at 11:00am.
Originality will comprise 50% of the total score.
2) A panel of judges will also score the Dummies on a downhill run at 1:00pm.
The downhill run comprises the other 50% of the total score.
During the downhill, judges will score for a straight approach to the jump, the height the Dummy achieves and the landing.
3) Remember... all criteria is totally subjective. :)

Big Air is back at Mt. Bachelor! Watch some of the industry's top competitors battle it out in this year's event.

In the 90's things were bigger, wilder, and arguably...better. Mt. Bachelor is bringing back Big Air, with style, and you'll want to be there. Riders and skiers from all over the West Coast will be hitting a 70 footer for a shot at a huge prize purse. It'll be a rockin' good time with tons of ridiculously rad 90's prizes, giveaways, and of course a killer party.

Competitors must be 18+ to register. Ya. You've got this.






Big Wave Challenge

Gerry Lopez Big Wave Challenge at Mt. Bachelor

April 8th & 9th

Mt. Bachelor holds this one-of-a-kind event inspired by none other than legendary surfer and Mt. Bachelor Ambassador, Gerry Lopez; who hosts the event!

Lopez was born in Hawaii, and grew up on Oahu. A tuberiding specialist, Lopez is known for a "cool-under-fire" style, and widely regarded as The Maven of wave-riding elegance and refinement. Lopez and his family now spend considerable time in Bend, Oregon, where he overseas a small snowboard manufacturing company.

The Big Wave Challenge is snowboard only event features a series of huge sweeping banked corners, quarter pipes and spines that are shaped into wave-like features for a flowing course bringing the surf to the mountain.

SnowPlanks

Snoplanks - A Mt. Bachelor Prequel

Returning for a second year (dare we call it an annual?) the Mt. Bachelor Prequel is an "old school" freestyle competition. The course consists of handmade features including a mini pipe, side hits, hips, and jibs (on Midway) encouraging skiers and riders to take their most creative approach and walk away with the grand prize...a handmade SnoPlank!
